the iniquity of us all

5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
the iniquity of us all

Isaiah 53: 5 and 6

we've read this before. but something about these words just hit me in a new way. i feel a weight on me, a heaviness in my chest. the contradictions here are astounding: "punishment that brought us peace" and healing for us "by his wounds". what did we ever do to deserve this? we are only good for committing transgressions, iniquities, and going astray. what did he ever do to end up being the one crushed, pierced, punished?

And yet, "the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all."

what it all translates into is this: incredible. pure, undeserved, grace.
if only i could feel this awe in every moment. how easy it is to love in light of what's been given.

caved

can not believe i now have one of these.
